Aeroplane Bag

The decision was finally made… Aeroplane Bag rather than the Weekender Bag (although I still do have a hankering to make a Weekender, especially after seeing some great examples the EMMQG ladies had made).

In-between mummy duties this week my Aeroplane bag was made.

all finished

The grand modification plans I had never saw the light of day unfortunately and has left me quite disappointed that I didn’t achieve as much as I really wanted too, (a boy was demanding attention that sucked my concentration). So now I have a true to pattern bag with a touch of simple quilting to add texture instead of extra pockets on the outside and an attempt at some fancy-schmancy quilting.

I did match up the lining perfectly though – woo hoo!!

fancy lining – la de da

I also managed to get it finished in time to enter it into the Apparel category of the Make it Right Challenge, which was the inspiration to use Angela Walters Right Angles Panel from the Textures collection for Art Galley Fabrics.

Voting has now begun on Pinterest and runs to 27th June…. if you fancy going to have a look at all the entries and voting. Whilst you are there check out the Quilting and Home Decor categories too. Surprisingly there hasn’t been as many entries as I expected, so I may still stand a chance to be in the running for a prize after all, even with my simpler than I originally intended submission (can you tell that I’m disappointed??).

In other news, I’m really excited to be taking part in Plum and June’s 2013 New Blogger Blog Hop. It is running through June and July and it will be a fantastic opportunity to discover some new modern quilting blogs and make new ‘bloggy’ friends. I’m scheduled in for next Friday – 14th June – can’t wait!!

I’ve already pinned your bag from the challenge page… And I hadn’t even realised it was yours! It’s a lovely pattern to start with and I like the quilting youve added. It’s a classy, clean and crisp bag. In fact, I think it’s the grey bottom that I like so much 🙂 fingers crossed for you

I do love this bag and I agree with Erin – the crisp grey base sets off the whole design and the fabric print. I’ve ‘liked’ your pinterest link and repinned you too, good luck 🙂

I love your bag Sarah and I think the quilting you’ve added is the perfect touch. And like the others have said, the grey really brings it all together so well. You really shouldn’t be disappointed! Sx
